Emulating A Professional Photographer

I feel that this was my strongest image; mainly because of the way the lighting from behind the building puts good emphasis on the shadows and highlights of the windows and helps to push the texture of the crumbling structure. The strong lighting also helps to distinguish the building from the sky and gives a more dramatic feel to a rather sterile/lifeless subject.
I would say that the most challenging aspect of this assignment was trying to find subjects similar to those taken by Dorothea Lange. While I could have gone with the "what she would be photographing in modern times" I wanted to come closer to her images of abandoned/derelict buildings from the dustbowl because it was what drew me to her photography in the first place. In the future, I plan to look more into planning out what time I want to take my photographs so that I can experiment more with different forms of natural lighting and skies(primarily how the sky in the background can influence the mood of the image.
My Comment( to Gioiella Del Vecchio):
I love the way the harsh frontal lighting in your photo gives a more dramatic effect but also pushes the "photo taken at home/family photo" feel to the image(I'm sure we have all been victim to the harsh flash in at least one family picture). I think you did an incredible job at emulating what the professional photographer you chose wanted to share with his photographs and loved how you explained your reasoning behind your choices and what they mean to you, it really improved the viewing experience knowing the story behind each image.
